For over a month now, PC players for Respawn Entertainment's Apex Legends have rejoiced over having the ability to play the game on Steam. The free-to-play battle royale has seen a swell of players since it became available on the gaming client, with it recently being reported that Apex Legends was touting over 100,000 concurrent players in its first week. And while this number is impressive, the experience has been far from perfect for some players.
In particular, players have noticed that the Steam version of Apex Legendscan sometimes come with a significant amount of input delay. For those that don't know, input delay is the amount of time between when a player pushes a button or key and when the game responds with the corresponding action. Naturally, those that are playing competitive games like Apex Legends want this delay to be as close to 0 as possible.

While input delay is incredibly frustrating to deal with, Twitter user @Jxneyy_ has created an easy to follow solution for this problem. After clicking on Apex Legendsin the Steam Library, players will want to click on the Manage icon. Once there, players will have to scroll down to the Properties option, followed by clicking on Set Launch Options. Players need to then type the following line into the dialog box that pops up: '+fps_max'. Following the word 'max,' type in the number of frames the monitor is set to. Players can find this in the Advanced section of their Display settings if they are unsure.

— Janey (@Jxneyy_) December 8, 2020This input lag may have an easy solution for players, but unfortunately, other recent issues aren’t as simple. Since quarantine began, Apex Legends players seem to be finding glitches and bugs on a daily basis. One recent discovery saw players trapped within crates on the new Winter Express LTM.
These bugs may be frustrating for players, however, Respawn seems to have a good explanation for why it may be a little slower on updates than other games. Recently, Apex Legends director Chad Grenier stated that he refused to have the team endure crunch conditions in order to speed up new additions. And while this comment was directed at new content, it's quite likely that this same philosophy could be applied to the team's attitude towards bugs. Apex Legends fans will just have to sit tight and patiently wait for Respawn Entertainment to fix these known issues as they are known to efficiently do.

One of the most anticipated features of Apex Legends Season 7: Ascension for PC gamers is that the game is coming to the well-loved launcher: Steam. Since launch, if players wanted to play on PC, their only option was Origin, which is glitchy, hard to set your online status and often just stops working. For those that want to jump ship: Now is the time.
The Apex Legends download for Steam just went live, so now you can preload the game on your computer so you are ready to dive into Season 7 as soon as it launches. To do this, all you need to do is go to the Steam page for Apex Legends, scroll down to Preload Apex Legends, and click through to add it to your launcher.

If you had another download running, it would be wise to pause it to prioritize the Apex download. If you pause it for any reason, just hit Resume to continue the download.
The download is 31.4 GB and there is cross-progression between Origin and Steam, so you can pick up where you left off once the new season goes live with the same Apex Legends in-game username. All of your unlocks and cosmetics will be there, along with three brand-new gun charms inspired by Portal and Half-Life, featuring Octane and Wattson.
If the season is already live, you can download the game from the same link. It will be the same size, only the button will say ‘Download’, and the game will already be playable once the download is complete.
